Maybe hold off on picking up Final Fantasy VII Rebirth at this point if you haven't played it yet on PS5. That's because a new report points to the RPG looking notably better on the PS5 Pro, scheduled to launch this fall for $700.

Digital Foundry decided to compare footage Sony shared of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PS5 Pro against its own PS5 gameplay. What they found with the PS5 Pro version was "a 60fps presentation that's a huge improvement over the standard PS5 and irons out its performance drops. And in some respects, the footage suggests that [PS5] Pro at 60fps even has advantages over the base machine in its 30fps quality mode."

The video comparison--seen above--points out how blurry Final Fantasy VII Rebirth can look on PS5 with the Performance Smooth mode. Then, on PS5 Pro, the Square Enix RPG features much better image quality, whether it's characters or trees in the far-off background. Additionally, skin textures appear much better. Digital Foundry showcases how Barret's face features more details that are almost smeared currently on PS5.
