Ubisoft has been a family business since its origination, and that trend continued with the naming of CEO Yves Guillemot's son, Charlie Guillemot, the co-head of the newly formed, Tencent-backed Vantage Studios division of the French gaming giant. Charlie already pushed back against nepotism accusations, and now his father has reacted to the concerns as well.

Speaking to Variety, the elder Guillemot said Ubisoft was "created as a family company" and it is this family-oriented structure that he believes is essential to the company today and into the future.

"This perspective guides our decisions and helps us build franchises, teams, and strategies that endure for decades," he said.

video game, star wars video gamesGod Of War Remake Trilogy May Differ From OG In A Big Way, Kratos Says

Kratos doesn't tend to talk too much, saying only what he needs to and grunting the rest of the time. However, he had a lot to say this time, with voice actor Christopher Judge talking a bit too much about developer Santa Monica Studio's God of War trilogy remake.

As spotted by Kotaku, YouTuber Fuzhpuzy posted their encounter with Judge at Fan Expo Vancouver 2026. The video has since been deleted, but mirrors of it are still up. Fuzhpuzy had asked if Judge was playing Kratos in the remake trilogy, to which he reiterated that Kratos' original voice actor, T.C. Carson, will reprise his role as the God of War.

Judge also told Fuzhpuzy that the team is "putting all the new technology in it [and] adding more stuff" to the God of War remake trilogy, including "a fighting system." He later said that "you'll then be hearing about what we're doing probably later this summer." And no, he doesn't voice Kratos in God of War Sons of Sparta, either.

video game, star wars video gamesValve Wins Trial Against "Patent Troll" Inventor

A Washington jury has favored Valve in its lawsuit against the "patent troll" inventor Leigh Rothschild and a myriad of his associated companies for breaching a contract and violating a state patent protection law.

According to reports by Bloomberg Law and PC Gamer, the US District Court for the Western District of Washington favored Valve on all counts as part of a lawsuit that dates back to July 2023. In a minute filed on February 17 and uploaded by Bloomberg Law, the count determined that Rothschild and his affiliates violated Washington’s Patent Troll Prevention Act and Consumer Protection Act, as well as breached the contract.

Rothschild and Valve have a storied history, with the two being in and out of courts since at least 2016. The inventor has an assortment of patents, both granted and pending, under his name that extends to a broad array of fields, including barcodes and QR codes. Many of his companies deal in patents, too. For example, Rothschild Broadcast Distribution Systems (RBDS) owns patent US8856221B2, which is a "system and method for storing broadcast content in a cloud-based computing environment." Valve obtained a "perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, fully paid-up, worldwide license" for it and others in Rothschild's portfolio in 2016. Rothschild sued Valve in 2022 for patent infringement, then again in 2023 over US8856221B2.
